Honduras Participates in the World Travel and Tourism Expo Miami 2024: An Opportunity to Promote Roatan as a Caribbean Tourist Destination
Honduras had a prominent presence at the second edition of the World Travel and Tourism Expo (WTE) Miami 2024, held at the prestigious Miami Beach Convention Center. This event has established itself as a key meeting point for the international tourism sector, bringing together representatives from various regions around the world, including Central America, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. This year’s edition took place from October 3 to 4 and served as an important platform to promote Honduras's tourism offerings, particularly Roatan, a rising Caribbean destination.
A Space for Tourism Development
During WTE Miami 2024, the Honduran Institute of Tourism (IHT) actively participated through the CATA Central America agency to showcase the natural and cultural wonders that Honduras has to offer. The IHT's strategy focuses on attracting international tourists and fostering business alliances in the tourism industry, highlighting the richness of its biodiversity, history, and culture.
The event's inauguration featured speeches from prominent figures in the tourism sector, who emphasized the importance of tourism for the region's economic development and the vital role that Miami plays as an international hub in this sector.
In addition, CATA's Secretary General, Boris Iraheta, presented the opportunities that Central American tourism offers, making a special call for the upcoming Central American Tourism Congress (CATM) 2025, which will take place in San Pedro Sula on October 21, 2025. Events like these enhance the visibility of Honduras and its destinations, such as Roatan, on the international tourism map.
Air Connectivity: An Advantage for Roatan
One of the highlights of Honduras's participation in the WTE was air connectivity. With the recent addition of direct flights from Miami to Roatan, the island positions itself as an accessible and attractive option for U.S. tourists. This connection not only facilitates access to Roatan but also represents an opportunity for more visitors to discover the island's natural beauty, white sandy beaches, and vibrant culture.
Leveraging this connectivity is essential for positioning Roatan as a Caribbean tourist destination. Tourists arriving through these direct flights will be able to enjoy a unique experience that includes activities such as diving, jungle exploration, and immersion in Garifuna culture, among many others.
WTE Miami 2025
The third edition of the World Travel and Tourism Expo will be held on September 17 and 18, 2025, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This event represents an excellent opportunity to continue positioning Roatan as a prominent tourist destination in the Caribbean.
WTE Miami 2025 is poised to be a fundamental space for exchanging ideas, building networks, and promoting destinations. The sponsorship and exhibition packages offered during the event provide a valuable opportunity to build high-impact relationships with influential professionals in the travel industry, both nationally and internationally.
