Próspera and UTH Launch “Activados” to Boost Youth Entrepreneurship Nationwide
A National Call for Creativity, Innovation, and Business Development
In August, the Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras (UTH), in collaboration with Próspera Honduras, officially launched the “Activados” initiative — a nationwide competition inviting UTH students from across the country to present their business ideas centered on entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation.
The program, backed by the academic excellence of UTH and the forward-looking vision of Próspera, seeks to promote the development of entrepreneurial projects from concept to the creation of a minimum viable product. The focus is particularly on empowering university students from vulnerable regions, offering them a platform to transform their innovative concepts into tangible, sustainable businesses.
Led by UTH AVANZA and Open to Students Nationwide
The national competition is driven by the UTH Innovation Center, UTH AVANZA, and is open to students from multiple campuses across the country, including San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, El Progreso, Puerto Cortés, Santa Bárbara, Tegucigalpa, the Bay Islands, Siguatepeque, and Choluteca. This broad participation reflects the university’s commitment to inclusivity and regional development, ensuring that young entrepreneurs from diverse communities have access to the same opportunities for growth and success.
With more than 30,000 students in its academic network, UTH has positioned itself as a key player in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Honduras. By leveraging this extensive reach, “Activados” aims to identify and nurture promising talent from all corners of the nation.
A Vision for Honduras as a Regional Innovation Hub
During the launch event, Erick Brimen, CEO of Próspera, shared his vision for the country’s potential. He stated:
“Honduras has the talent, the energy, and the vision to become a center of innovation in the region. Today more than ever, it is time to think big and build the future from here.”
This sentiment underscores the strategic goal of “Activados” — to harness the capabilities of young Hondurans and channel them into ventures that can drive economic growth and position Honduras as a leader in regional innovation.
Opportunities and Rewards for Participants
The winners of the “Activados” competition will receive seed capital and specialized training designed to equip them with the tools needed to succeed in the business world. The training will cover essential areas such as business administration, financial management, payment methods, and the use of virtual currencies. This comprehensive approach ensures that participants not only develop their products but also gain the operational skills to manage and grow their enterprises effectively.
By integrating financial literacy, technological knowledge, and strategic planning into the program, “Activados” aims to prepare students for the realities of the modern marketplace. The initiative’s emphasis on capacity-building reflects a long-term vision for sustainable entrepreneurship in Honduras.
Strengthening Youth Entrepreneurship in Roatan and Beyond
Próspera’s collaboration with UTH in launching “Activados” highlights the shared belief in the transformative power of young talent. This partnership offers a unique combination of resources — academic support from UTH and entrepreneurial expertise from Próspera — to help students turn their ideas into real, impactful businesses.
Through “Activados,” the initiative is not only fostering entrepreneurship in Roatan but also expanding opportunities throughout the country. By investing in the skills, creativity, and ambitions of young Hondurans, UTH and Próspera are helping shape a generation of leaders capable of driving meaningful change.
How to Participate
The rules of the competition and the requirements for submitting proposals will be published on UTH’s official social media platforms. Students interested in participating are encouraged to follow these channels closely to ensure they receive the latest updates and instructions.
“Activados” represents more than just a contest — it is a platform for empowerment, innovation, and transformation. With strong institutional support and a clear vision for the future, UTH and Próspera are opening doors for students to become the entrepreneurs and innovators that Honduras needs to thrive in the global economy.
