Activad@s by Próspera ZEDE and UTH Avanza Supports Young Entrepreneurs in Honduras

Entrepreneurship and innovation continue to grow across Honduras, and a new initiative led by Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras in partnership with Próspera ZEDE aims to help the next generation of entrepreneurs transform ideas into real businesses.

The program, called Activad@s, carries the slogan “Dale start a tu idea” and is organized through the UTH Avanza Innovation Center. The initiative is designed to guide students and graduates through the process of developing a business idea, building a minimum viable product (MVP), and preparing to pitch their projects to potential investors.

A Program Designed to Build Real Businesses

Unlike traditional entrepreneurship courses, Activad@s focuses on practical execution and mentorship. Participants will complete a seven-week training phase that includes:

  • One online group session per week

  • Weekly business challenges

  • Personalized feedback

  • Business pitch preparation

  • Innovation and startup methodologies

The program combines Design Thinking and Lean Startup methodologies to help participants rapidly validate ideas, reduce risk, and accelerate the development of their projects. The final stage of the program culminates in a business competition where selected teams will present their ideas before a jury of experts for the opportunity to win seed capital.

US$10,000 in Seed Capital Awards

One of the main highlights of Activad@s is the opportunity for participants to compete for startup funding. The program will award:

  • 10 cash prizes of US$1,000 each

The funds must be used exclusively to execute the winning business ideas according to the approved investment plan. Funding will be delivered directly by the sponsoring organization.

Who Can Participate?

The program is open to:

  • Active undergraduate and graduate students from UTH

  • Active students from Centro Politécnico del Norte (CPN)

  • Graduates from UTH and CPN from all graduating classes

Participants must form teams of 2 to 6 members that meet the program requirements.

What Kind of Ideas Are They Looking For?

Activad@s is seeking innovative business ideas that:

  • Solve real unmet needs

  • Improve existing market solutions

  • Have not yet been implemented by the participant as a business

The program accepts ideas from a wide range of industries, provided they do not involve illegal activities or conflict with ethical and institutional values.

Program Phases

The program is divided into four phases:

  1. Registrations

  2. Training

  3. Semifinals

  4. Finals and Awards

Only teams that maintain perfect attendance, complete weekly challenges, and demonstrate consistent progress will advance to the semifinal stage.

Supporting Innovation in Honduras

Programs like Activad@s reflect the growing interest in strengthening entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup culture in Honduras. Through collaborations between universities, innovation centers, and organizations like Próspera ZEDE, initiatives such as this create opportunities for students and young entrepreneurs to access mentorship, training, and seed capital that can help transform ideas into sustainable businesses.

For many participants, Activad@s may become the first step toward launching a startup, developing new technologies, or building solutions that address real challenges in Honduras and beyond.
