What Is TEDx — And Why Roatan?
TEDx is a grassroots initiative stemming from the world-renowned TED platform. While TED focuses on global conferences, TEDx empowers local communities to organize independently licensed events where thinkers, doers, and dreamers share compelling stories and groundbreaking ideas. More than 3,000 TEDx events are held globally each year — but this will be Roatan’s first.

This year’s TEDxRoatan theme, Island Mosaic, celebrates the diversity and harmony of life on Roatan. Like a mosaic made of colorful tiles, the island is shaped by different nationalities, ethnic backgrounds, languages, and lifestyles — all coexisting and interacting in vibrant, sometimes surprising ways. From native Garifuna rhythms and Creole storytelling to the entrepreneurial energy of newcomers and expats, Roatan represents more than just beauty — it represents coexistence. This TEDx event aims to capture that essence by placing a wide range of speakers on one stage, each with their own story to tell.
Speakers will present in English or Spanish, offering accessibility while honoring the island's bilingual identity.

The heart of TEDxRoatan lies in its speakers — 10 inspiring individuals, each delivering a 15-minute talk that has the power to provoke thought, inspire action, and deepen understanding.
