UTH Roatan: 19 Years of Growth and a New Campus Inauguration
In an atmosphere filled with pride, emotion, and hope, the Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras (UTH) marked a historic milestone on the island of Roatan with the official inauguration of its new building and the graduation of its latest class of professionals. This momentous double celebration reflects UTH’s unwavering commitment to quality education, innovation, and the development of Honduran talent in every corner of the country.
The new campus building, designed with modern architecture, accessibility, and comfortable academic spaces, stands as a tangible symbol of UTH’s dedication to fostering academic and technological growth in the insular region. Its establishment represents a bold investment in the future of the Bay Islands and its people.
A Dream Nineteen Years in the Making
UTH’s presence in Roatan dates back to 2007, when the university first opened its doors on the island. Over the past 19 years, it has grown steadily, providing opportunities for islanders to access higher education without leaving their homeland. During the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Roger D. Valladares, President of UTH, recognized Emilio Silvestri and Melvin Rosales for their vision and initiative in supporting the creation of a higher education center in Roatan.
Salomón Galindo, furniture and project manager for the group of companies led by Mr. Valladares, presented a brief historical narrative recounting the journey from the campus’s humble beginnings to this new chapter marked by the state-of-the-art building.
A Toast to the Future
In a heartfelt moment, Dr. Roger E. Valladares led a commemorative toast alongside the graduates, their families, and the university’s faculty, symbolizing the end of one journey and the beginning of new dreams. Graduates received degrees in undergraduate programs, engineering, and postgraduate studies, including the first-ever cohort of the Doctorate in Managerial Administration — a proud milestone that reinforces UTH’s commitment to academic excellence and life-changing education in Roatan.
UTH: Building Dreams and Transforming Lives
With its philosophy of being “the human university,” UTH continues to make a lasting impact by offering accessible education, cutting-edge technology, and a dedicated, highly qualified faculty. Its work in Roatan is not just about classrooms and degrees — it’s about empowering communities, creating local leaders, and building a better future for Honduras.
As UTH celebrates this new chapter in Roatan, it renews its promise to bring quality higher education to every region of the country, reaffirming that geography should never be a barrier to knowledge, opportunity, or success.
