Electricity to Saint Helene
The three phase project by RECO explained.
New advances are presented in the distribution project in the Diamond Rock area. Once this stage is completed, it will begin with the installation of submarine wiring that will provide, for the first time, electric power to the island of Santa Elena.
What follows is an Interview with Eng. Matthew Harper, Director of Operations RECO.

It is the first stage of the project that consists of the remodeling of a monophasic system line, which was built in 1995 from Punta Gorda and passing through Punta Blanca, Marble Hill, Diamond Rock, until reaching the old Port Royal and passing through Camp Bay.
PHASE ONE:
The cost of the entire line, which is an improvement, because we are changing from a wooden post to a concrete post which allows us to increase the capacity of the cable to support a five-megawatt demand. The cost of the same is around 14 million lempiras which constitute the first phase.
PHASE TWO:
The second phase is a stretch of underground cable that traverses a private lot on the side of Old Port Royal. The stretch is 8,500 feet.
PHASE THREE:
The third phase in an underwater project that amounted to $ 7 million dollars. So we are talking about almost $ 10M dollars for the rural electrification of Santa Helena.
Proyecto de electrificacion de Santa Helena
Se presentan nuevos avances en el proyecto de distribución en la zona de Diamond Rock. Una vez concluida esta etapa se iniciará con la instalación del cableado submarino que proveerá, por primera vez, energía eléctrica a la isla de Santa Elena. Entrevista con el Ing. Matthew Harper, Director de Operaciones RECO.
Es la primera etapa del proyecto que consiste en la remodelación de una linea de un sistema monofasico, que fue construido en 1995 desde Punta Gorda y pasando por Punta Blanca, Marble Hill, Diamond Rock, hasta llegar al viejo Port Royal y pasando por Camp Bay.
FASE UNO:
El costo de toda la linea, la cual es una mejora, porque estamos cambiando de portería de madera a portería de concreto la cual nos permite aumentar la capacidad del cable para poder soportar una demanda de cinco megavatios. El costo de lo mismo esta alrededor de 14 millones de lempiras la cual constituye la primera fase.
FASE DOS:
La segunda fase es un tramo de cable subterráneo que atraviesa un terreno privado en el lado de Port Royal viejo. El tramo es de 8,500 pies.
FASE TRES:
La tercera fase en un proyecto submarino que ascendé a $7 millones de dolares. Entonces estamos hablando de casi $10M de dolares para la electrificacion rural de Santa Helena.
