There are several reasons why self-isolation may be recommended in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In this article, we'll walk you through a few scenarios where self-isolation is recommended. Self-Isolation is a recommenced practice for vulnerable people as well.
Self-Isolation is when you keep a safe distance at your home or residence between yourself and others. In these cases you may consider remaining indoors and avoid contact with others for a period of 14 days. You should maintain a 6 feet distance from others in your household. If you determine self-isolation is needed, be sure to remain isolated for the entire period even if you no longer show symptoms during this period of time.
When should I Self-Isolate?
Self-Isolate if:
You are positive to COVID-19
You are not feeling well
You are in close contact of someone with COVID-19
You are a returned traveler
You have been tested for COVID-19 and waiting for results
Why practice Self-Isolation?
You should self-isolate if you suspect you have COVID-19 to help avoid the virus's spread and protect friends, vulnerable people, and co-workers.
Staying at home for 14 consecutive days can be a difficult task, and therefore you must prepare before you self-isolate by
Thinking how you can get access to food and supplies that you will need during this period
Ask for online services available in your city such as pharmacies, supermarkets that offer home delivery
Keep in touch with your family and friends over the phone or social media
Communicate with others via the Roatan Community Forum
Think about activities you can do during this period at home
If you are feeling better, physical exercise can be good for your health

How to Self-Isolate?
Consider these tips for self - isolating to stop the transmission of COVID-19:
Stay at Home - Do not go out unless it is necessary or urgent
Keep a Safe Distance - Stay at least 6 feet away from others, including the people in your household. Make sure to have your utensils such as towels, soap, cutlery, bed (if possible) and do not share it with your family
Be aware of Facilities - If you share the restroom with the rest of your family, make sure to clean and disinfect every time you used it. Don't use the kitchen while others are present. Eat-in your room. Clean frequently touched surfaces
Follow this guide if you live with Children, Elderly/Vulnerable people, and Pregnant women
Prepare for Deliveries - Make sure that the delivery driver does not come inside your home, instead ask him to leave everything outside and grab it
Don't Allow Visitors - During this pandemic situation it is recommended not to allow any type of visitors (including family and friends)
Pets - If you have pets, you should wash your hands after contact even though there is no evidence that we can get infected through pets.
