(UPDATED: 3/30/2020)

ROATAN: 22
CORONAVIRUS: 0

Roatan's Governor Dino Silvestri lead the 14th Live Stream on social media today, March 30th. The Governor stated Honduran nationals living abroad have started to return to Honduras. These residents are entering the country via San Pedro Sula, where they are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine. No one is entering the country through Roatan.

Curfew & Ordinance

The central government put in place a public ordinance, which is being observed on Roatan. That said, the mayor's office has submitted a revised ordinance specific for Roatan, which includes a few exceptions to the stipulations put out by the central government. Until the local government gets its amended ordinance approved, Roatan must observe the ordinance mandated by the central government.

Spring Break

Spring Break holiday has been canceled.

Outbound Ferry

There is an outgoing Ferry tomorrow.

The Ferry departs at 7 am, and travelers are asked to be at the Ferry terminal on or before 6 am on March 31st.

All those looking to leave on tomorrow's Ferry must alert the Ferry authorities ahead of the Ferry's departure. To make arrangements, dial +504.9680.8563. The Ferry is for departing residents only; no one will be allowed to return from the mainland. There is no cost for this Ferry, as it aims to serve a disenfranchised community.

Departures

There have been an estimated 15 outgoing flights to Canada and 14 flights departing to the USA. The last flight to Canada departed today. The last outgoing plane to the USA will leave tomorrow, Tuesday. An estimated 2K people have been evacuated through the Roatan International Airport thus far.

Donations

The donations website, which was announced this past Sunday, has already raised $4,438 (L.110,780) during its first 24 hrs online. The Governor is hopeful that the website will continue to raise funds for the disaster relief efforts on Roatan.

The real challenge is the lack of tourism born from the pandemic. For this reason, an online donations resource has been set up to help support the community at large. Donations can be made online through the Make it Count Foundation, who is a 501(c)(3).

The disbursement of these donations will be for emergency needs, healthcare workers, protective and medical equipment. Allocations of these funds will be transparent online.

Governor Dino Silvestri encouraged the public to tune in to the daily press briefing by Governor Andrew Cuomo from NYC. This press briefing is meaningful as NYC is recognized as ground zero for the fight against COVID-19.
